Scope note
Any composite plastic imbedded with high-strength fillers, resulting in mechanical properties superior to base resins. Reinforcement may be derived from fibers, filaments, mats, fabrics made of glass, metal, carbon, boron, or aluminum silicate. The types of plastics used for base resins include polyester, epoxy, phenolic, polypropylene, polystyrene, nylon, polycarbonate, and polyphenylene oxide.
